Dear visitors and smART supporters!
I vividly recall the first time I stood in front of Professor George Rivera’s painting.
It was one of his earlier works, a mixed media portrait of a woman. Central image showed a sad and lonely woman, her right arm resting on her shoulder, staring into the distance.
The lines were very precise and fine, yet most captivating. The very high contrast of dark figure against speckled white background was captivating. This was something very different.
Once the sheer excitement wore off, what followed was pure amazement. The power packed in this painting was breathtaking. It felt like being punched in the chest, gasping. Only other times I experienced such profound connection were in Rome, staring at a Caravaggio painting, and in New York, admiring Francis Bacon's art.
Art Museum of Los Gatos is exhibiting A Journey Of Faith And Hope, a 30 year survey of my mentor, George Rivera. This is an amazing opportunity to immerse oneself in his body of work.
I hope you have the opportunity to take advantage of this amazing exhibition.

I would like to express congratulations to my mentor and friend, Maestro Rivera.
